Carnation 'Grenadin Mix' Seeds

Dianthus

The ultimate edible flower, as the leaves, flowers, stems and seeds are all edible. Nasturtiums are a fast growing annual, and incredibly easy to grow. They are great in containers, borders, sunny banks or poor soils. Nasturtium 'Gleam' is a fantastic climbing / trailing variety with large semi-double 6-7cm flowers held high above the foliage in a mix of bright colours.

Average height: 50-60cm
Aspect: Full sun, but will tolerate partial shade
Soil type: Poor, dry soils
Sowing period: March to May
First signs of blossom: 6 to 8 weeks
Average flowering period: 4 months
Contents: Approximately 50 seeds

Nasturtiums should not be fed, as this will promote vigorous foliage growth, but few flowers. They prefer dry soil and are quite drought tolerant. Once established the plants require little watering.

Harvesting
As soon as there are several leaves on the plant you can begin to harvest the leaves. Always pick the younger leaves, which are more tender. The flowers can be picked at any time, but are best before they begin to wilt.
