200 Shows and counting!

200 Shows and counting!

We've been busy again throughout spring 2025, travelling the length and breadth of the country to attend garden festivals, country fairs, climate summits and Independent markets - in fact our tally of shows since we started in 2011 has now reached 200 events!!

Highlights of the year have been the wonderful Toby's Festival at Powderham Castle near Exeter - a show we haven't missed in over 10 years - and the RHS Malvern Spring Show, where we again collaborated with our friend Eddie from RhizoPhyllia

Royal Bath & West Show

Tomorrow we head back to Shepton Mallet (we were there at the very windy street market on Sunday!) where we will be in the horticultural marquee at the Royal Bath & West Show until Sunday.

The Green Scythe Fair on the Somerset Levels

If you're looking for a magical one day environmental fair in a beautiful setting, look no further than the Green Scythe Fair on the Somerset Levels - run entirely by volunteers using wind, sun and muscle power. Excellent live music, over 100 stalls displaying traditional skills, crafts and produce, lively environmental debates, delicious organic local food, a variety of the best ales and ciders and a large kids area with activities throughout the day.

Our talk 'Meadows & Microbes – Nature's Elixir for Life is at 11:45 in the Community Tent.

Soil microorganisms created land plants 470 million years ago. Those early plants wicked carbon from the atmosphere and helped develop a stable climate, and food, for life that followed. Beneficial microbes are now being discovered in all plant tissues including seeds passing on the mother plant's biological elixir. Indeed wildflower meadows are the driving force of habitat restoration following natural disaster or indeed man-made damage, working in close partnership with the soil microbes; the wildflowers feed the microbes with a photosynthetic smorgasbord of sugars, vitamins and enzymes, and in return the microbes supply the plants with a vast array of stress-busting compounds, plant-growth-promoting hormones, and biocontrol agents.

This session is a perspective-shifting illustration of the partnership between above-ground and below-ground biological diversity and function that provides insight for all plant life.

Malvern's Royal Three Counties Show

We're back in Malvern in June for the award-winning Royal Three Counties Show, the UK’s premier agricultural and countryside living event – which was awarded ‘Event of the Year’ in 2024 by the National Association of Outdoor Events –  which is set to return to Three Counties Showground in Malvern from 13 – 15 June 2025, with a packed programme of new features, exciting entertainment, bags of family fun for all ages, oodles of local food and drink, and – as always – lots of animals! You will find us in the Smallholders' Village.

The Oak Fair at Stock Gaylard in Dorset

Another show we never miss is The Oak Fair. Much like an acorn, from humble beginnings 19 years ago, the beautiful Oak Fair - celebrating oak, timber, woodland, conservation and the Dorset countryside - has grown into something much bigger. While the ethos remains just the same as it did in its first year. The fair now welcomes over 200 exhibitors, and has an action packed arena with some amazing shows and demonstrations. Meadow In My Garden are regulars at the fair, and can be seen immediately on the left in Conservation Row.
