Daucus carota
Queen Anne's Lace, bird's nest, bishop's lace

Daucus carota is the wild form of the cultivated carrot, which flowers from midsummer to autumn and attracts a wide range of insects including bees, beetles and hoverflies.

Contents: Approximately 1,000 seeds

Average height: 50-100cm
Aspect: Full sun, but will tolerate partial shade
Soil type: Succeeds on poor soil: Acidic, Chalky, Alkaline, Clay, Heavy, Moist, Well Drained, Light, Sand
Sowing period: March to July
Flowering period: June-August

Flowers have a delicate, lacy quality, making them a good choice for informal borders and wildflower schemes.

After flowering, the flowerhead folds inward to develop a concave seedhead, resembling a birds' nest. This remains throughout winter. Daucus carota self-seeds readily.

Our packaging is made from FSC recycled cardboard and environmentally friendly inks. The seed bags are waxed paper or compostable starch to keep seeds in the best condition during storage.
